Thursday Triple is a weekly roundup of Indie Games from around the Net.
It’s been a rough week in the office. A mind-crippling headache seemed to from one person to the next, so this week I tried to find games that were the least offensive to my sensitive thinking-lobes.

All right. You caught me. I’m a huge sucker for adorable little games, and this one tops the chart for most delightfully whimsical in recent memory. It’s an adventure set on Gogapoe Island, a place where monsters and humans live in harmony. Well, most monsters are friendly anyway, if you don’t count the ones that steal your delicious baked goods.
You play as Niko, a young boy ready to celebrate his birthday, that is before the evil Boogin King swipes his scrumptious birthday cake. The premise is simple – you want your cake back and you’ll do just about anything to save it and any other kidnapped noms. Luckily for you, there are monsters willing to help you along your quest, so you’ll be able to make use of their assortment of abilities to solve puzzley obstacles.
It’s out on Steam now for $14.99 ($11.99 in its opening week), and I’ll be taking a look at it in greater detail with a full review soon. Until then, please enjoy the wondrous white unicorn and his great skill in barfing rainbows.

If you’re not familiar with Momodora games in the past, I’d definitely consider heading to the official site where you can find free links to Momodora and Momodora II. You don’t have to play the other two to enjoy this platformer, but it’s great to see they’ve hung on to their roots.
It’s a classic set-up with a classic system, and though it’s pretty short for its asking price of $4.99 on Steam, it’s certainly fun while it lasts. The common comparison is, of course, Cave Story, but I’ll leave it up to you to put a label on it.

Departing from the light-hearted, we’ve reached InSomnia, an RPG set in a grimy “dieselpunk” world. The game takes place on a derelict spaceship called “The Ark” that’s moving towards a very distant planet. After their home had been destroyed due to a conflict between two nations, the people, Nomans, took up travelling the void hoping to settle on a new planet and start civilization over.
The Kickstarter campaign is still young, though we can already see some of the features the devs are pushing to include. The story promises to be non-linear, with branching dialogue and “points of no return” to give the player a sense of how important decisions are. Combined with other staples of the RPG genre – character customization, crafting, and exploration – and InSomnia looks to be quite the large project.
The atmosphere is the real killer; both the music and the art pull you into this forsaken place. Check out their page to see what I mean. I’m particularly fond of the decrepit paintings peeling off the steel walls of the ship. Jesus is there somewhere (or, at the very least, the visage of an angel-like figure), though comforting or foreboding, I am not entirely sure.
